Important Safari Information

DEPOSITS: A safari is booked and confirmed only upon receipt of a deposit of 40% of the basic safari fee.

The balance of the safari fee is payable on the day of arrival in Maun.

If safari is canceled before six months of safari date, deposit transferable to another safari for the following season. If safari cancelled less than six months of safari date, no deposit returned. Sorry due to several unfortunate instances the year, we will no longer accept personal checks.

You are not covered by insurance, and you are advised that you and your property be fully covered by insurance for the duration of the safari.

While ever effort will be made to safeguard you and your property, no liability or responsibility is accepted for any accident, injury, illness, or for any loss of property during your safari. By booking and paying a deposit for a safari, you are deemed to have accepted these Liability and Insurance clauses.

You may import three firearms into Botswana. This can be two shotguns and one rifle or two rifles and one shotgun. One hundred rounds of ammunition per caliber can be imported into Botswana. The company can supply shotgun shells. Shells are about $.50 each in 2004. Import permits for firearms will be obtained by the company but all relevant information must be supplied well in advance. Guns permits are $100 per gun. Once issued, it cannot be altered, so please make sure you bring the correct gun with you.

CLOTHING: Three sets of safari clothing in olive, drab, or khaki color. Cotton clothes and underclothes are better than synthetics. For the cooler months from mid May through Mid-August, bring a down vest long sleeved jersey and windbreaker and/or lined jacket, and a pair of lightweight gloves; lightweight long underwear and a scarf can be welcome in the early morning as open vehicles can be chilly. A pair of well-worn safari or desert boots or other suitable walking shoes. A bush hat and sun glasses are necessary even in the winter months as the sun is hot at midday. Do not bring too much as laundry is done daily in camps. CAMOUFLAGE CLOTHING IS ILLEGAL. It is preferable to bring duffel bags on safari rather than hard suitcases which could be damaged and are difficult to load into vehicles and aircrafts.

CLIMATE AND HEALTH: Botswana's climate is pleasant and healthy with very little humidity. From mid-May to mid-August that days are mild to warm with the evenings and early mornings cool to cold. From Mid-August to October the days are warm to hot, with evenings cooler. Generally, the humidity is low and the climate is pleasant and comfortable. No vaccinations are required to enter Botswana. Though you may not see a mosquito, you are advised to take precautions against malaria. Please consult your personal physician.

The town of Maun, Botswana, is the starting point for safaris. There is scheduled air service to Maun from Johannesburg, South Africa, and Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

AIR CHARTERS: Air charters are used to reach the Tsum Tsum area and the Kalahari. Air charters will be provided at standard rates. Please ask for quotation.

Daily rate for nonhunting companion (all safaris) $300 per day each.
